Lyons Outdoor Games add a new DASH and BASH trail run to the games.

Lyons Outdoor Games present the Dash and Bash Trail RunDASH and BASH Trail Run latest event added to Lyons Outdoor Games. This race mixes formal wear with a trail run for a new event at its three-day mountain fest, June 10-12. Get ready, get set, go.

Ladies and gentlemen, wear your finest formal wear, but don’t leave behind your trail running shoes. The Lyons Outdoor Games and Boulder’s Outdoor Divas are hosting its first Dash and Bash Trail Run. Ladies will start and end the race in Sandstone Park, dressed in evening gowns and finery and will be followed by men in suits and ties. A ball will follow the race. “We’ve never had anything like this on the Front Range, let alone Lyons,” said Lyons Parks and Rec Director Dave Cosgrove. “This is the perfect opportunity for athletes to dig out old prom dresses and polyester suits.”

The race starts from Sandstone Park at 4pm on June 11th. Pre-registration ($20) is encouraged but onsite registration is accepted ($25). The Lyons Outdoor Games is a three-day multi-sport event that appeals to pros and weekend warriors alike. Prize money is offered in kayaking (freestyle, creek racing, down river, boater X and slalom), biking (dirt jump, pump track, and cruiser ride), and the Dash and Bash 5k, among others. Family-friendly events include a cruiser ride, exhibitors and a cadet class kayaking division. Even the family dog has a place in the Canine Cannonball and Speed Retrieve comps. Spectators can sign up onsite for free to $25 clinics that range from how to loop a kayak to tamer pursuits like proper fly rod casting technique. The clinics are conducted by visiting pro competitors.

Title sponsor Oskar Blues Brewery will host various parties and provide spectators with plenty of brews. For more information on low-cost camping and restaurant options, or to pre-register for competitions or clinics, please visit Entrance for the general public is free.
