What is bikepacking?

Bikepacking is using your bike instead of hiking to reach camping destinations. You can travel on road, gravel or single track.Bike Magazine focused almost an entire issue on this developing sport, and they loosely define bikepacking as “seeking adventure through multi-day, self-supported trips on lightly loaded bikes.”

How did you get into it?

I started by taking my first trip down the coast of Oregon and California. It’s a go out and do it kind of activity. You’ll never know if you like it until you try it the first time.

What has been your favorite trip so far?

My Idaho Hot Springs trip has been the winner so far. Yeah, hot springs for every day!! It’s a must do and will set higher expectations for another trip after.

What was your biggest challenge in the saddle?

Kokopelli trail last year, extreme heat, long days and I even got sick the second day in. The fantastic crew of ladies I was with helped me pull through.

What advice do you have for women who want to get started?

It’s by far the most scenic way to travel.  Come to the clinics and learn from other women.
